This study of celiac sprue investigated potential links between gluten sensitivity and MS pathogenesis. Systematic scientific analysis examined biological and clinical data relevant to MS. Findings showed that gluten exposure activates pro-inflammatory immune responses in susceptible individuals. Molecular mimicry between gluten and CNS antigens drives autoimmune nervous system attack. These findings have direct clinical relevance for MS patient management and outcomes. The work advances understanding of MS biology and supports development of improved therapies.
